Bojec Reviews Mid-Season Performance
Mentor, OH – After what could be considered a bumpy start to the 2011 NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car season, John Bojec, driver of the PAC Racing Springs TAFC is confident his team has the ability to charge ahead as they face the final stretch of races with high hopes of earning their second Wally.
A relaxed Bojec smiles as he comments on the team’s performance, obviously reliving the thrills of each race.
‘This season has been a rollercoaster to say the least. I am very excited with the way my team has performed, in fact this has been the best we’ve placed in points thoughout my 9 years of competition. We’ve had some fantastic race results, making the finals in Charlotte against Frank Manzo who scored his 100th Win. Although we didn’t get the result we wanted it felt awesome to be part of such a memorable race. On the other hand, the door to opportunity has been
wide open for us this year and unfortunately we missed our opening, but again I feeI confident in my team that we can really grab the bull by the horns and make a charge in the final stretch of races before the season ends. I am really excited to see what this team can achieve, said Bojec.
Proud to be not only the Team Owner but driver of the PAC Racing Springs TAFC, Bojec has enjoyed some much needed time off to regroup. ‘Our next race is Indy and after last year’s disappointing finish we are more determined to make things right this year. It would be a dream to get it right and walk away with the Wally and I am more focused than ever’.
With Only a hand full of races left for the PAC Springs TAFC team before their season ends there is certainly a lot of positive energy surrounding this team and high hopes of continuing their success to finish out the 2011 season.
Harker Licensed in NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car
Joliet, IL – 28 year old Australian, Diana Harker successfully completed her NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car License at Route 66 Raceway at the Monday test session held after the Route 66 Nationals July 7th-10th driving the PAC Racing Springs TAFC that is normally piloted by John Bojec.
Daughter of International Top Alcohol Funny Car Racer, Steve Harker, Diana started her licensing attempt earlier this year after the 4Wide Nationals held at ZMax Dragway in Charlotte, NC April 14th-17th. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances Diana was unable to return to the driver’s seat until early July.
The wait would be worth it for Harker as after only three passes in Bojec’s event winning Funny Car Harker successfully completed her cross over licensing and proved she’s ready for competition making two successful 1/4mile runs of 5.77 and 5.74, both runs at over 245mph.
“I’m all smiles. It feels amazing to have achieved my TAFC License. It’s like a dream come true. I grew up watching dad race altereds and funny cars but I got my start in dragsters and to finally have the opportunity to race Top Alcohol Funny Car feels like a huge accomplishment for me. It was also very cool and very inspiring to be able to watch Courtney Force and Alexis DeJoria making their Nitro Funny Car test runs in Chicago. I am very excited to see these girls following their dreams and their love of drag racing too. It’s exciting to see the new young talent reaching the top and I am even more excited to see what 2012 will bring for us all.’
Harker is also licensed in the NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster class and has mentioned plans of a possibility that her family may make a return to the NHRA circuit later this year with the family owned and tuned TAD. ‘I’m excited to get back on track especially in the TAD class. Driving a dragster is second nature to me and with my dad making the tune up calls on the car I have high hopes for our team, said Harker.
With no set plans yet to make her debut in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class, Harker is certain that it will happen. ‘It’s just a matter of time’ explained Diana. ‘John and I and our marketing team are working hard at putting together a second TAFC and I am more determined than ever to make this happen. It’s my dream, I have to make this work’.
